CT is expanding secure voting access
Elections — and our democracy — work best when more eligible voters can participate and Connecticut has made real progress in making that happen.
For years, Connecticut was one of only four states in the country without early voting. That changed in 2024 when lawmakers listened to residents and took action to modernize our voting system while maintaining the security and integrity of our elections. It’s proof that good things happen when elected leaders listen to the people they serve.
The introduction of early voting has already made a difference—giving people with busy schedules, work demands, family responsibilities, and unexpected conflicts more flexibility. You can even vote on the weekend! And this year, we’re taking another important step forward with no-excuse absentee voting. In the past, voters had to meet specific criteria to request an absentee ballot. Now, any eligible voter who prefers to vote absentee can do so — no explanation required.
I believe we should continue building on this type of progress and find more ways to make government work better for all of us.
