The experiences and values that shaped me
I’m running to be your state senator because I care deeply about our community, and I want to help make life better for the families and businesses who call Connecticut home.
My commitment to public service started with my parents.
My father was a Vietnam veteran and a Bronx OB-GYN. He spent his career taking care of women, including many who couldn’t otherwise afford the care they needed. My mother was a public-school teacher. They both believed in working hard, helping other people, and giving back to the community and the country that has given us so much.
Those values have guided me throughout my career in law and policy and through recent years where I’ve had the privilege of serving on the Greenwich Board of Selectmen, on nonprofit and community boards, and as the first Democratic chair of Greenwich’s finance board, where we kept taxes low while protecting town services. Those experiences have taught me something I believe very strongly: we accomplish more when we listen to each other, find common ground when we disagree, make responsible decisions, and then get to work.
That’s also what I’ve heard from people throughout this campaign. People are tired of the constant partisan fighting. They want leaders who will listen, use common sense, take responsibility, and focus on getting things done.
That’s the kind of leadership I will bring to Hartford.
Government isn’t something distant or abstract. Its decisions affect our family budgets, our businesses and livelihoods, our schools, and our children’s opportunities. My focus will be on the things that matter in everyday life, what I call my ABC’s: making Connecticut more affordable; supporting our businesses, strengthening our economy and being responsible with taxpayers’ money; and bringing common sense and independent judgment to the decisions we make.
For me, this is deeply personal. I’m a wife and mother of three. I was a daughter to an aging parent. And I’m a friend and neighbor. Like you, I think about the future we’re leaving our children and the kind of community we want them to inherit.
That’s why I’m running. I want to help build a Connecticut where families can afford to stay, businesses can grow, and our children can have a strong future.
