Hello Friends and Neighbors,
I’m writing to introduce myself and share why I’m running for State Senate.
My commitment to public service was shaped by my family’s story. My father was a first-generation college graduate, Vietnam veteran, and Bronx OB-GYN who dedicated his career to caring for women who often could not afford healthcare. My mother was a public school teacher. Together, they instilled in me the values of education, service, and care for others. My mother’s parents were forced to flee Nazi Germany and were fortunate to be able to rebuild their lives in America; and my father’s parents owned a small flower shop in Brooklyn, working every holiday and weekend. Through their lived experience, my family taught me the importance and value of hard work, commitment to community, and to love and protect our country and our democracy.
I began my career with New York City’s Parks Department, where I saw firsthand how government can improve people’s daily lives. After earning my law degree, I built a career in public service, focused on making government work better for residents. My professional background gives me deep experience in analyzing laws and drafting legislation — critical skills needed in Hartford to make sure government improves people’s lives in practical, tangible ways.
For the past 20 years, my husband and I have raised our three children in Greenwich. I’ve been honored to serve our community as a Selectperson and as Chair of the Board of Estimate and Taxation — the first Democrat in Greenwich history to hold that position. During my time in local government, I worked to keep taxes low while investing responsibly in our schools, infrastructure, and essential services.
With so much at stake — from supporting our businesses and growing our economy to make family life affordable, from strengthening our public schools to supporting public safety, and from protecting our rights to defending our communities and our future — representation in Hartford matters. I’m running to be a strong, experienced voice for the 36th District and I’ll work to protect the qualities and opportunities that make Connecticut such a great place to live and raise a family.
